Owned by the City of New York, the High Line is programmed, maintained, and operated by Friends of the High Line in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. We raise nearly 100% of the High Line’s annual budget.
Through excellence in operations, stewardship, innovative programming, and world-class design, we seek to engage the vibrant and diverse community on and around the High Line and to raise the essential private funding to help complete the High Line’s construction and create an endowment for its future operations.
The Membership Coordinator plays an integral role in the High Line’s membership program, which consists of a direct mail program supporting all aspects of acquisition, upgrades, and renewals and coordinating the email marketing program. The Coordinator performs daily data and gift entry and maintains records for the High Line’s 7,000 members in Raiser’s Edge NXT and Raiser’s Edge database view. This role is a hybrid and will be required to report to the office (located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District in New York City)
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
The hourly rate for this position is $30.50
This position reports to the Senior Director of Major & Individual Giving with a dotted line to the Database Administrator.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between the High Line and external membership/direct mail partners, including a direct mail consultant and a lettershop.
- Serve as a main contact to our caging company, alongside the Database Administrator.
- Work with partners to analyze membership/direct mail performance and monitor progress toward annual goals.
- Oversee the timely processing of membership/direct mail gifts and fulfillment of benefits daily to weekly, coordinating with the caging company to print and mail acknowledgments and a volunteer to help assist with benefit fulfillment. This may include working in tandem with the Individual Giving Coordinator.
- Draft email marketing campaigns and route approvals.
- Co-manage our monthly donor program with the Database Administrator. Coordinate the annual receipt and letter sending to all monthly donors at year-end.
- Review data input for accuracy and consistency, reconciling payments with the Database Administrator and the Finance Department to ensure accuracy.
- Act as the first point of contact for members and potential members, providing consistent and excellent customer service; resolve member problems; and address concerns and requests expediently and professionally over the phone, email, or in person.
- Managed printed collateral, including but not limited to letterhead, envelopes, reply devices, and brochures, working with Communications to create new materials and tracking inventory. This may include creating or refreshing benefit items like water bottles, tote bags, etc.
- Coordinate and process all payment requests and invoices for the membership/direct mail program, ensuring timely payment to vendors and tracking expenses to assist with budgeting.
- Coordinate fulfillment and benefits of the program and lead Member tours in the park.
- Excellent organization skills with attention to detail.
- Track and oversee inventory of membership premiums and collateral for the program.
