Associate Lab. Director, Cell Therapy Cell Engineering Facility

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking an accomplished, motivated, and innovative individual to join the Cell Therapy Cell Engineering Facility (CTCEF), as Associate Lab Director.
Role Overview
- This position is responsible for supporting and executing strategic planning, financial oversight, operational management, staff development, and leading special projects.
- The role demands a balance of scientific acumen and adeptness in management, ensuring that the facility's services align with cutting-edge research practices and support the institution's mission.
- This position plays a pivotal role in advancing the scientific and operational capabilities of the laboratory as the scope of the facility evolves into other biological therapeutics, such as mRNA cancer vaccine.
- In partnership with the Director of the core facility, the AD will set the short-, medium- and long-term scientific directions of the laboratory by evaluating emerging technologies together with the needs of MSK scientists and physicians.
- This position’s operational responsibilities encompass oversight of advanced methods development, scientific consultation, and liaising with the scientific community to grow a sustainable state-of-the-art operation.
- This position is responsible for the financial and human resource management (e.g., hiring, training, mentoring, and staff career development.
- This position is also responsible for supporting and executing strategic planning, financial oversight, operational management, staff development, and leading special projects.
Key Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in the academic or commercial sector.
- A deep understanding of Cell Therapy, CAR-T technologies and GMP manufacturing.
- Previous exposure to developing budgets in partnership with external sponsors and various internal stakeholders.
- Expertise in mRNA-LNP platforms, cGMP process flow, and analytical panel development; experience with IND applications highly desired.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

- A creative thinker and strategic planner who can think outside the box.
- An experienced manager with proven success at managing laboratory staff and overseeing day-to-day laboratory operations essential.
