Position Overview
Security Officers are responsible for providing a safe environment for Museum employees, visitors, and artwork. This position is customer service oriented and requires constant interaction with the public to enhance the visitor experience and to provide information regarding the exhibitions on display. Candidate must work well with others to ensure a safe and attractive facility for the public and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Safeguard art, staff, and equipment.
•Required to assist with building evacuation during emergencies, report problems, suspicious activity, and any other hazards to the Security Supervisor.
•Turns on and off all computers, A/V equipment, and other mechanical devices related to each exhibition.
•Provide crowd control and security for all major exhibition openings and after-hours museum events.
•Required to interact with the public regarding the exhibitions on display and basic wayfinding around the museum.
•Required to attend training sessions pertaining to the Security department and Museum exhibitions.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Must be able to follow instructions, stand and/or patrol for long periods.
•Must be able to professionally interact with the public and other Museum employees.
•Required to possess or obtain certification by New York State as a Registered Security Guard.
•Fireguard Certification for Places of Public Assembly (F-03) required.
•Prior museum experience and/or background in art preferred.
•MUST work weekends and evenings as needed.
