Accounting Manager – Award Winning Advertising Agency (Remote Schedule)

About Our Client

Our client, a top tier advertising agency, is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the day-to-day accounting operations for their U.S. entity. This is a newly created role reporting to the Global Assistant Controller, offering strong visibility and the chance to shape processes as the finance function scales.

The role is remote, however they have in office in NYC if candidates have a preference to work in person

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the U.S. entity's monthly, quarterly, and annual books-close cycle
• Serve as the primary owner for the accuracy of the income statement and balance sheet
• Draft, review, and sign off on journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Conduct variance analysis on P&L and balance sheet accounts, flagging and explaining notable swings
• Keep revenue recognition practices aligned with ASC 606 standards
• Handle intercompany accounting end-to-end — booking entries, reconciling balances, and syncing with finance counterparts abroad on settlements
• Analyze core balance sheet line items such as deferred revenue, work-in-progress, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets
• Coach and oversee a small team of 1–2 Senior Accountants
• Collaborate across FP&A, AP, AR, Tax, and operations to keep reporting accurate
• Assist with external audit prep — pulling schedules and fielding auditor questions
• Contribute to process and automation upgrades and help tighten internal controls
• Weigh in on tax-related accounting items in partnership with outside advisors

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on ownership of the close cycle
• Track record of managing or coaching junior accounting staff
• Has held full accountability for a business unit's income statement and balance sheet
• Solid grounding in reconciliations, financial analysis, and closing the books
• Background handling intercompany accounting across more than one entity
• Advanced Excel fluency; comfortable in Google Workspace
• Well-versed in U.S. GAAP
• NetSuite background is a strong bonus
