Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: Winnetka, Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Compensation: $100,000- 115,000

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a well-established organization. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys managing close processes, strengthening controls, developing teams, and driving process improvements.

What You’ll Do

• Lead monthly and year-end close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff.
• Review complex reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and financial reporting.
• Support Foundation accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities.
• Assist with information required for the annual 990-T preparation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system enhancements.
• Partner cross-functionally on financial analysis, projects, and operational initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience managing month-end close and audits.
• Strong Excel and ERP experience.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
