Accounting Manager (Long Island)

Join a third-generation, family-owned seafood importer and distributor as Senior Accountant, working directly with ownership in a lean, hands-on finance function. This is a great fit for someone who wants real ownership of the numbers and exposure well beyond a typical staff-accountant role, without the overhead of a large corporate finance department.

Location: Jericho, NY

Compensation: $100,000 to $120,000

What You'll Do

• Prepare monthly financial statements
• Maintain and audit the general ledger
• Prepare year-end and supplemental schedules for the company's outside CPA
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring
• Set up and monitor wire transfers to suppliers; track daily bank activity
• Help manage lines of credit and customer credit terms
• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable staff
• Assist with HR administration alongside the company's PEO (ADP) — personnel files, onboarding, payroll processing, benefits enrollment
• Help prepare and review business agreements (employment agreements, NDAs, supplier agreements, leases)
• Support review and negotiation of insurance policies (general liability, product liability, cargo, credit insurance)

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and Excel
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Comfort working in a small, closely-held business with direct exposure to ownership and cross-functional responsibilities

Preferred

• CPA or CPA-track
• Experience in food distribution, wholesale, perishables, or commodity-based businesses; seafood industry experience a plus
• Familiarity with wire transfers, banking relationships, and lines of credit
• Exposure to HR administration/payroll, ideally alongside a PEO
• Comfort reviewing or drafting business agreements
• Familiarity with customs duties or international supplier payments
