Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at John F. Kennedy International Airport serves as the primary on-site leader for tenant engagement and operational performance, with support of the Operations Manager in the overall execution and success of ASUR Airport’s concessions program. Acting as the critical bridge between strategic leadership and frontline operations, the AGM ensures alignment across tenants, internal teams, and airport stakeholders.
As the main point of contact for all on-site tenant teams, the AGM is responsible for fostering strong relationships, driving tenant performance, and ensuring consistent delivery of operational and brand standards across the terminal. Working closely with cross-functional partners—including Leasing, Marketing, Accounting, Development, and Tenant Coordination—the AGM translates strategy into execution and ensures accountability across all areas of the business.
Operating within a highly matrixed airport environment, the AGM interfaces regularly with the Terminal Operator, Port Authority, airline partners, and government agencies. This role requires strong leadership, operational fluency, and the ability to proactively identify issues, resolve challenges, and drive results across a complex stakeholder landscape.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tenant Leadership & Commercial Performance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all concessionaires, building strong, trust-based relationships with tenant ownership, management, and frontline teams.
- Drive tenant performance by monitoring sales trends, operational standards, and customer experience metrics.
- Partner with tenants to identify opportunities for sales growth, operational improvements, and enhanced guest experience.
- Collaborate with Marketing to support activations, promotions, and programs that increase engagement and revenue.
- Ensure alignment with lease requirements, brand standards, and operational expectations across the concessions program.
- Lead individual business reviews, to provide structured feedback and performance insights to Leasing and senior leadership to inform strategy and future deal-making.
- Support the Guest Experience team in the roll out of the company’s “Expect the Exceptional” program with new operators, and initiatives to help achieve or exceed goals for ASQ and internal KPIs.
- Document and track complaint cases to ensure follow-up and continuous improvement.
2. Operational Leadership & Execution Oversight
- Support the overall leadership of terminal operations, ensuring alignment with ASUR’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Oversee and supervise the day-to-day operational activities led by the Operations Manager, ensuring consistency, accountability, and timely resolution of issues.
- Monitor program-wide operational performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities across tenants and facilities.
- Reinforce a culture of operational excellence, responsiveness, and accountability across all stakeholders.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination & Program Delivery
- Serve as the central coordination point across Leasing, Marketing, Accounting, Development, and Tenant Coordination teams.
- Track and drive execution of key initiatives, including tenant openings and operational programs.
- Partner with Retail Delivery and Leasing teams to ensure timely, high-quality store openings and transitions.
- Ensure alignment between construction, tenant readiness, and operational requirements.
- Facilitate clear communication between corporate teams and on-site operations to ensure seamless execution.
- Oversee the operational RFP process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, compliance with procurement policies, and timely delivery of high-quality vendor responses.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Contract Support
- Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including the Terminal Operator, Port Authority, airline partners, and government agencies.
- Have an active role in managing the Terminal Operator relationship, coordination, issue escalation, and performance tracking.
- Help ensure compliance with contractual obligations, service level agreements, and operational standards.
- Represent ASUR in stakeholder meetings, working groups, and operational forums.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for navigating airport authority procedures, approvals, and public sector frameworks.
- Act as a company authorized signatory, who oversees new applications and compliance of airport security badges in alignment with the rules and regulations of TSA.
5. Financial Management, Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Support development and management of annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets in coordination with the VP and Accounting team.
- Monitor financial performance, track expenses, and identify cost control opportunities.
- Assist with the collection of receivables as required by the Asset Accountant.
- Ensure alignment between operational execution and financial goals.
- Oversee compliance tracking across operational, regulatory, and contractual requirements, ensuring risks are identified and addressed proactively.
- Support Local Accelerator Operators and drive DBE participation goals, including tracking, reporting, and coordination.
- Identify operational risks, policy changes, or performance gaps and drive mitigation strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Aviation Management, Real Estate, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 6–9 years of progressive experience in airport, retail, hospitality, or multi-unit operations environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing tenant or client relationships and driving commercial performance.
- Strong understanding of operational execution, financial performance, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working within complex, multi-stakeholder or public-private environments preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, financial tools, and project management systems.

Compensation
· Exempt
· $120,000 – $145,000 per year + Discretionary Annual Bonus
