About Western x Melrose

Led by developer Zach Lasry, Western x Melrose owns and operates a growing portfolio of commercial properties centered around Western Avenue and Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.

The team has assembled a concentrated portfolio of properties with a focus on restoring existing buildings and bringing together a thoughtful mix of independent restaurants, art galleries, retail, and creative businesses. The neighborhood has become home to a growing collection of acclaimed operators and has emerged as an exciting food, art, and cultural destination in Los Angeles.

Our team is directly involved in the property management, leasing, construction, development, and day-to-day operation of the portfolio. Because of this, the Assistant Property Manager will have exposure to nearly every aspect of commercial real estate and will work closely with tenants, contractors, vendors, brokers, and the ownership team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to property management, leasing, construction, tenant improvements, asset management, and the day-to-day operations of a diverse commercial real estate portfolio.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, communicative, and excited to take ownership of projects in a fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in commercial real estate and grow alongside an active and expanding portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the day-to-day management and operations of a portfolio of commercial properties.
  • Communicate directly with tenants and help manage tenant requests, questions, and ongoing property issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance requests, work orders, repairs, and vendor access across the portfolio.
  • Work directly with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other third parties to coordinate property and construction-related projects.
  • Assist with tenant improvement projects, property renovations, and ongoing construction.
  • Help manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoices, tenant charges, reimbursements, and property expenses.
  • Assist with leasing activity, property tours, tenant move-ins and move-outs, and preparation of property information.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and follow up on maintenance and operational items.
  • Maintain organized records, contracts, invoices, COIs, property documents, and project information.
  • Assist the Property Manager and broader team with special projects and day-to-day portfolio needs.
What We’re Looking For
  • 1–3+ years of relevant professional experience preferred, ideally in property management, commercial real estate, construction, hospitality, operations, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
  • Proactive and willing to take ownership rather than waiting for direction on every task.
  • Comfortable communicating with tenants, vendors, contractors, and senior team members.
  • Ability to problem-solve and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest in commercial real estate, property operations, construction, and development.
  • Experience with Yardi, CommercialCafe, or similar property management software is a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to work full-time, on-site in Los Angeles and regularly visit properties throughout the portfolio.
The Opportunity

This position offers the opportunity to work directly alongside an active real estate team and gain exposure well beyond traditional property management.

You’ll be involved in everything from tenant relationships and daily property operations to leasing, construction projects, tenant improvements, budgeting, and asset management. As the portfolio continues to grow, there is significant opportunity to take on additional responsibility and grow within the company. We’re looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the team, take ownership of their work, and build a career in commercial real estate.
