We are seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in Tort & Catastrophic Loss and General Liability litigation to join our growing Hartford, Connecticut office. The ideal candidate will have at least 3+ years of litigation experience handling matters involving catastrophic injury claims, trucking and transportation litigation, premises liability, negligent security, product liability, construction defect, and other complex general liability matters. The successful candidate will maintain positive client relationships, observe the highest level of confidentiality, and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

FMG's Tort & Catastrophic Loss Practice Group represents businesses, insurers, and insureds in high-exposure litigation nationwide. Our attorneys have extensive experience defending complex personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from transportation accidents, premises liability incidents, construction accidents, product liability claims, and other catastrophic loss matters. Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Evaluate claims and provide initial case analysis, investigations, and strategic recommendations.
• Draft and respond to written discovery, motions, pleadings, and other litigation-related documents.
• Take and defend depositions, including party, fact, and expert witness depositions.
• Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Work closely with clients, insurers, experts, and co-counsel throughout the litigation process.
• Analyze liability, damages, and exposure issues in complex personal injury and catastrophic loss matters.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding legal strategies, developments, risks, and potential outcomes.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the Connecticut Bar.
• 3+ years of experience handling general liability, tort, catastrophic injury, trucking/transportation, premises liability, or related civil litigation matters.
• Experience managing cases independently and handling all phases of discovery.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Experience taking and defending depositions and drafting dispositive motions preferred.
• Strong sense of urgency in problem solving, meeting deadlines, and achieving client objectives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation practice.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
• Experience with iManage and/or OneDrive is a plus.
