Our client, a growing and well-established real estate organization, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company's financial strategy, accounting operations, and overall financial performance. This executive will serve as a strategic business partner to ownership while overseeing all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, tax, and operational reporting.


The ideal candidate will have extensive real estate experience and a proven track record of building financial infrastructure, improving processes, and supporting growth initiatives.


Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

  • Partner with ownership and executive leadership to develop and execute the company's financial strategy.
  • Provide financial guidance on acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and long-term business planning.
  • Present financial performance and strategic recommendations to ownership, investors, and lenders.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate new investment opportunities.

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Develop KPIs and executive dashboards to measure portfolio and company performance.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.

Real Estate Finance

  • Manage financing activities, including acquisitions, refinancing, and lender relationships.
  • Oversee debt compliance, loan covenants, and banking relationships.
  • Analyze property-level performance, cash flow, NOI, and investment returns.
  • Support asset management with financial analysis and operational recommendations.
  • Review property valuations and assist with capital planning initiatives.

Cash Management & Treasury

  • Oversee company liquidity and cash management strategies.
  • Manage banking relationships and treasury functions.
  • Optimize cash flow across multiple entities and properties.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and investment returns.

Tax & Compliance

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on partnership and corporate tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage the annual audit process and relationships with external auditors.
  • Oversee insurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
  • Drive process improvements and technology initiatives.
  • Establish scalable financial processes to support company growth.
  • Collaborate with operations, development, property management, asset management, and other business leaders.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
  • Real Estate experience is REQUIRED.
  • Experience with acquisitions, financing, investment analysis, and portfolio management.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, partnership accounting, and real estate financial reporting.
  • Experience managing multiple legal entities and property portfolios.
  • Advanced financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presentation abilities.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with residential, multifamily, industrial, office, retail, mixed-use, hospitality, or other real estate sectors.
  • Property management and asset management financial oversight.
  • Debt financing, refinancing, and lender negotiations.
  • Investor reporting and capital raising support.
  • Experience with real estate ERP/accounting platforms such as Yardi, MRI, Sage Intacct, AppFolio, or similar.
