Commercial Furniture Designer

Branchburg, NJ | Full-Time

Are you a designer who can take an idea from concept to technical execution?

We are recruiting for a growing organization in the commercial furniture industry seeking a talented Commercial Furniture Designer to join its team in Branchburg, NJ.

This is not a graphic design role. We’re looking for someone who understands commercial interiors, space planning, furniture systems, materials, specifications, and technical design—someone who can balance creativity with the precision required to turn a great concept into a successful finished environment.

You’ll help create innovative, functional spaces across corporate/workplace, education, healthcare, hospitality, and public-sector environments, developing solutions that are both visually compelling and technically sound.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop commercial furniture concepts and space-planning solutions
  • Create sketches, renderings, mood boards, and 3D visualizations
  • Produce detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and production-ready files
  • Prepare specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), finish selections, and presentations
  • Partner with sales, project management, and clients to understand project requirements and develop customized solutions
  • Participate in client presentations, design reviews, and collaborative design sessions
  • Support custom furniture modifications, product updates, and design clarifications
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • 2–5 years of professional design experience, ideally within commercial furniture, contract furniture, commercial interiors, workplace solutions, or a closely related environment
  • Proficiency with industry design software such as CAP 2020, AutoCAD, CET, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar
  • Strong understanding of furniture construction, materials, ergonomics, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to produce both compelling visual concepts and technically accurate design documentation
  • Strong presentation and visual communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Experience within commercial interiors, workplace solutions, or contract furniture is especially desirable. Familiarity with sustainability practices, LEED, and material performance standards is a plus.
