An employer is seeking a CNC Machinist to join their team in the Chicago, IL area for a contract to hire opportunity! This team is looking to expand its large part machining and heavy component manufacturing capabilities for customers across multiple industries; industrial equipment, automation, food processing, packaging, and aerospace. You will play a critical role in producing complex, oversized precision components while supporting high-quality machining operations in a shop known for large horizontal boring mills, vertical turning lathes, planer mills, and heavy fabrication capabilities. You will set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills for large part machining applications while working from blueprints and engineering drawings to machine precision components. You’ll be responsible for troubleshooting and editing CNC programs as needed while verifying tooling, work holding, offsets, and machine setup before production. You’ll maintain accuracy and part quality and performing first article and in-process inspections using the measure equipment. You’ll also collaborate with programmers, machinist’s and other team members to help improve process workflow. In this role, you’ll be working with Toshiba boring mills VTL’s and large HBM’s. Having experience with Mastercam or G-code will be crucial for the success in this position.


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a CNC machinist / programmer
  • Experience with horizontal machining centers, horizontal boring mills or pallet machines
  • 2+ years of experience with Mastercam programming experience
  • Experienced using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, and gauges)
  • Experience with large-part machining
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical drawings


Plusses:

  • Experience with Toshiba boring mills, massive VTL’s, planer mills, or large HBM’s
  • Experience w/ Toshiba BTD, BTH, Full 5th axis indexing HBM’s
  • Experience machining oversized or heavy industrial components
  • Familiarity with fabrication or repairing machining environments
  • Multi-axis machining experience
  • Crane served machining operations
  • Fanuc


Onsite: Mon-Friday, 6:00AM-5:30PM, 1 Saturday (Overtime available!) (8:15 break, and 2:30, and 30 minutes)

Hourly Pay Rate Range: $27-$35/hr w/ overtime pay!
