Construction Superintendent – Commercial Interiors / Retail
Location: Long Island / New York Metro

Position Overview
The Superintendent will serve as the primary on-site representative, taking ownership of day-to-day field operations, subcontractor coordination, schedule execution, quality, safety, and client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day field operations from mobilization through project completion and turnover.
- Serve as the primary on-site representative and maintain accountability for project execution.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Develop and maintain short-term and overall project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Oversee commercial interior build-outs, retail renovations, tenant improvements, and store rollouts.
- Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals; identify conflicts and coordinate resolutions.
- Coordinate MEP trades and ensure proper sequencing with architectural and finish work.
- Oversee installation of high-end finishes, architectural millwork, fixtures, lighting, and specialty retail elements.
- Coordinate inspections, permits, deliveries, material staging, and site logistics.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Conduct quality-control inspections and ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.
- Identify potential schedule delays and field issues and proactively develop solutions.
- Maintain daily reports, progress documentation, photographs, punch lists, and other project records.
- Coordinate punch-list completion and final closeout activities.
- Communicate effectively with owners, clients, architects, consultants, Project Managers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent the company professionally on-site.
- Support projects involving night shifts, phased construction, accelerated schedules, or occupied spaces.
- Travel nationally as required based on project assignments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial construction Superintendent experience
- Strong background in retail construction, commercial interiors, tenant improvements
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination.
- Experience working in fast-track environments with demanding schedules.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software is a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally for project assignments.
