Controller - NYC Endowment


A global endowment located in NYC is seeking a Controller to join their team. The Controller will be a key member of a small, collaborative team responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the endowment and related entities. This is a hands-on role with broad exposure across accounting, audit, governance, and operational support.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Ensure reporting is maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
• Oversee and review third-party fund administrators and accounting providers
• Serve as primary liaison for audit and tax matters
• Coordinate audit committee materials, governance documentation, and meeting deliverables
• Identify financial reporting risks and recommend process improvements
• Support vendor management and operational initiatives

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Accounting
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience (investment, fund, endowment, or financial services)
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, Dynamo, BNY, TPM/Caissa, or Private I is a plus
• Knowledge of asset allocation and alternative investments preferred
  
  

Compensation:
$160-180K base plus bonus and strong benefits.
