Controller | Own a Finance Function Across a PE-Backed Portfolio | Western Chicago Suburbs (Hybrid)

Spent 8-12+ years building your technical accounting chops and ready to actually own a finance function instead of running someone else's playbook? Worth a conversation.

Our client is a financial advisory firm serving as the embedded finance team for a portfolio of PE-backed restaurant and franchise companies. You'd work directly with the firm's CPA/CMA owner, hands-on with the numbers, building the close process, controls, and systems across multiple operating companies — plus getting exposure to buy- and sell-side deal work.

What you'll own:

• Monthly close & financial reporting across a multi-entity portfolio
• Internal controls design — cash, assets, segregation of duties
• AP oversight and disbursement approval workflows
• Buy- and sell-side transaction support (true-ups, acquisition accounting, diligence)
• Accounting/ERP and inventory system rollouts
• ASC 606 revenue recognition methodology

What you bring:

• 8-12+ years of progressive accounting/controllership experience
• CPA preferred
• A real track record of building — not just maintaining — a finance function
• Comfort operating independently with limited structure
• Ability to work in western suburban office approximately 2x/week

Nice-to-haves: R365, Sage, or QBO; restaurant/hospitality/franchise background; buy- or sell-side transaction exposure
