Full job description

CORPORATE CONTROLLER

Location: Westbury, NY (onsite, 5 days/week)

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Why This Role

This is a controllership seat with real teeth, not a caretaker role. The company is mid-buildout on a new manufacturing plant and mid-migration to a new ERP system, and the incoming Controller will own both: process redesign, data migration, UAT, controls integration, and post-go-live optimization. On top of that, there's a legal-entity reorg on the table (splitting Kansas and Oklahoma operations into separate entities), a legacy reporting stack that needs to be rebuilt from scratch, and SOX/SEC compliance obligations that come with being publicly traded. Reports directly to the VP of Finance, with real visibility to leadership. Expect roughly 20% domestic travel to stay connected to the manufacturing floor.

Position Overview

The Corporate Controller will own all financial operations across AP, AR, production accounting, inventory, billing, collections, payroll, and audit, while training and supervising department staff. Day to day means building financial reporting that managers can actually use quickly (replacing the current one-off, manager-by-manager reports), keeping the company GAAP/SOX compliant through a period of rapid growth, and leading the ERP implementation from a finance and controls standpoint. This is a hands-on, build-it role for someone who wants to shape systems and process, not just maintain them.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee AP, AR, production accounting, inventory, billing, collections, payroll, and audit functions
  • Design and roll out a new, streamlined financial reporting system replacing individualized manager reports
  • Lead the ERP systems implementation: process redesign, data migration, UAT, internal controls integration, post-implementation optimization
  • Manage the consolidation of two new business units as Kansas and Oklahoma operations reorganize into separate legal entities
  • Review and maintain internal controls and processes for SOX compliance and risk relevance
  • Identify and drive automation opportunities across financial operations
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a team that includes several people newer to their roles
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, SOX, and SEC reporting requirements as a publicly traded company
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities (~20% annually) to partner directly with site leadership

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5–7 years of managerial accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong cost accounting and budgeting background
  • Hands-on experience across AP, AR, inventory, payroll, income tax, and banking
  • Track record establishing and maintaining strong internal controls
  • Experience at a publicly traded company, with SEC reporting exposure
  • ERP systems implementation experience; Oracle a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; able to run multiple projects at once
  • Comfortable making sound decisions quickly with limited information, under pressure

Additional Details

  • Fully onsite in Westbury, Long Island
  • ~20% domestic travel to manufacturing sites
  • Physical requirements: occasional lifting
