Position Overview

An established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting & Financial Control to lead accounting and financial operations. This is a key leadership position on our team responsible for financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cost accounting, internal controls, and providing financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have significant manufacturing accounting and finance experience, with a strong understanding of standard costing, inventory, operational finance, and financial controls. This individual will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams while overseeing the day-to-day accounting function.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and operating results.
  • Oversee standard costing, inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, manufacturing variances, and product cost analysis.
  • Partner with operations and leadership to analyze manufacturing performance, margins, labor, overhead, inventory, and other key business drivers.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes and provide ongoing analysis of actual performance against plan.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and coordinate required financial documentation.
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and other accounting functions.
  • Manage and analyze cash flow, working capital, capital expenditures, and balance sheet activity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, supply chain, engineering, sales, and other functional leaders.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Significant accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment required.
  • Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Plant Controller, or similar senior-level finance leader.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting, including standard costing, inventory, variance analysis, and cost accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with operational leaders and translate financial information into actionable business insights.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
