Our client, a publicly traded pharmaceutical/biopharma company, is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to serve as the organization's subject matter expert for SEC reporting, technical accounting, and external financial disclosures.
Reporting to senior finance leadership, this highly visible position will lead all aspects of SEC reporting, technical accounting research, financial statement disclosures, and regulatory compliance while managing a small team and partnering closely with Executive Leadership, Investor Relations, Legal, and External Auditors.

Key Responsibilities
SEC Reporting Leadership
- Serve as the primary point person for all SEC reporting activities.
- Lead the preparation and review of:
- Form 10-K
- Form 10-Q
- Form 8-K
- Proxy Statement financial disclosures
- Earnings releases
- Ensure all filings comply with SEC, FASB, NASDAQ, and U.S. GAAP requirements.
- Manage reporting timetables and coordinate filing deadlines.
Financial Reporting & Disclosures
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, and disclosure checklists.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of all external reporting.
- Coordinate supporting schedules and documentation required for public filings.
- Review and approve XBRL tagging of financial statements and related disclosures.
Technical Accounting
- Lead research and interpretation of complex accounting matters.
- Prepare technical accounting memos supporting key accounting conclusions.
- Evaluate new accounting pronouncements and assess organizational impact.
- Provide guidance on complex transactions, business initiatives, and disclosure requirements.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies and reporting procedures.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Investor Relations teams.
- Manage internal and external review processes for SEC filings.
- Coordinate feedback from auditors, legal counsel, and executive leadership.
- Lead and develop a team of 1-2 accounting professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry experience
- Big 4 or national public accounting background
- Experience supporting publicly traded life sciences organizations
- Prior experience managing staff and developing teams
