Location: New York City–based, with regular travel to the Hamptons and periodic travel to Aspen and London

Schedule: Full-time, with flexibility for events, weekends, and travel

Compensation: $175,000–$225,000 base salary, plus discretionary bonus and full benefits, depending on experience

A private family with five residences across New York City, the Hamptons, Aspen, and London is seeking an exceptional Director of Hospitality to lead service standards, staff development, guest experience, and entertaining across the portfolio.

Each residence has its own style and rhythm. The Director will ensure that every home reflects its distinct character while maintaining a consistent level of warmth, polish, discretion, and attention to detail.

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a traditional property-management position. The Chief of Staff and property-management team oversee the physical operations of the homes, while the Director of Hospitality will serve as the family’s authority on service, household readiness, and entertaining.

Duties and Responsibilities

Establish elevated yet warm service standards across all residences, adapting protocols to the style of each home and occasion.

Ensure every property is fully prepared for the family, overnight guests, private dinners, and larger events.

Create and maintain SOPs, service manuals, checklists, preference files, and training materials to promote consistency across locations.

Recruit, onboard, train, and develop housekeepers, chefs, butlers, and other hospitality-focused staff in partnership with the Chief of Staff and property leaders.

Provide hands-on coaching in service etiquette, household presentation, food and beverage service, discretion, communication, and guest care.

Help establish clear roles, routines, and accountability while fostering a collaborative and respectful team culture.

Support seasonal staffing and the hiring and onboarding of a future Hamptons House Manager.

Lead the hospitality and service components of intimate dinners, family gatherings, and larger-scale events, particularly in New York City and the Hamptons.

Coordinate with chefs, household staff, event planners, vendors, and security teams to oversee staffing, guest flow, timing, table service, and presentation.

Anticipate family and guest preferences and ensure they are communicated and consistently executed across all properties.

Travel between residences to assess standards, train teams, support seasonal transitions, and prepare for family visits and events.

Remain hands-on and willing to work alongside the team whenever needed.

This position does not oversee nannies or childcare staff.

Qualifications

8–10+ years of progressive luxury hospitality or private-service experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility.

Background within a five-star hotel or resort, Michelin-level or highly regarded restaurant group, private club, luxury events environment, or sophisticated UHNW household.

Proven experience hiring, training, and leading high-performing service teams.

Strong understanding of formal and informal service, food and beverage, household presentation, and personalized guest experience.

Experience overseeing private events and collaborating with chefs, planners, vendors, and household teams.

Ability to develop and implement service standards, training programs, SOPs, and quality-control systems.

Multi-property or seasonal-residence experience strongly preferred.

Refined, observant, organized, and highly attentive to detail, with the ability to anticipate needs before they are expressed.

Warm, discreet, emotionally intelligent, and low ego, with a calm and solutions-oriented leadership style.

Comfortable working within an established leadership structure and partnering closely with a Chief of Staff and multiple property leaders.

Flexible to travel domestically and internationally and work evenings, weekends, and events as required.

Valid driver’s license and passport, with verifiable references from comparable environments.
