Director of Procurement
Location: Newark, NJ
Compensation: $160,000 - $190,000 Base Salary + 20-25% Performance Bonus
Reports To: CEO & President
Lead Procurement Strategy for a Growing Construction Organization
We are seeking an experienced Director of Procurement to lead and optimize our procurement and supply chain operations. This executive-level role will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, driving cost savings, and ensuring material availability across the organization.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction industry procurement, a proven ability to lead teams, and a track record of delivering measurable savings and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute company-wide procurement strategies that reduce material costs and improve profitability
- Negotiate supplier agreements, contracts, and rebate programs
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers
- Standardize materials and purchasing processes across the organization
- Drive purchasing efficiencies and reduce emergency procurement activity
- Oversee inventory planning and optimization to ensure material availability while controlling carrying costs
- Analyze procurement performance, supplier metrics, and spending trends to support data-driven decisions
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align procurement initiatives with business objectives

- Annual procurement cost savings
- Purchase price variance improvements
- Preferred vendor utilization exceeding 95%
- Emergency purchases below 3%
- On-time supplier delivery exceeding 98%
- Inventory turns greater than 8x annually
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
- 10+ years of procurement and supply chain experience
- 5+ years of leadership or management experience
- Construction industry procurement experience strongly preferred
- Experience negotiating large-scale supplier agreements
- Strong ERP, reporting, and procurement analytics experience
- Proven ability to implement strategic sourcing initiatives and drive measurable results
