Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer 4 to support electronic product development, validation testing, and production controller failure analysis. This role will focus on investigating electronic hardware failures, executing product validation testing, and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation. The successful candidate will work within a global engineering environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product development and field issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and analyze electronic hardware failures, including production part returns and field issues.
- Execute validation and verification testing for new product introductions (NPI), new technology introductions (NTI), and production components.
- Develop, review, and execute test plans to ensure products meet quality and performance requirements.
- Create detailed test reports and document investigation findings, procedures, and results.
- Utilize laboratory equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and related test instrumentation.
- Track incoming and outgoing hardware, test samples, and product development materials.
- Report findings and test results to engineering teams, managers, and stakeholders.
- Support product development activities by ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Maintain laboratory organization, equipment readiness, and testing documentation.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum experience requirements:
- Associate's Degree in EE or EET with 12+ years of experience, OR
- BSEE/BSEET with 8+ years of experience, OR
- MSEE with 5+ years of experience.
- Internship experience may be considered toward overall experience requirements.
Required Technical Skills
- Electronic hardware failure investigation and root cause analysis.
- Electronic hardware testing using lab equipment including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Power supplies
- Digital multimeters (DMMs)
- Test plan review and execution.
- Test report development and technical documentation.
- Electronics product development testing.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and electronic systems.
Required Soft Skills

- Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Caterpillar ECM/ECU experience.
- SEAFOAM experience.
- WebPD experience.
- Experience with CAT EC-1 and EC-42 standards.
- EMC and vibration testing experience.
- Product validation and electronics diagnostic experience.
Work Environment
- Combination of office and engineering laboratory environments.
- Frequent transition between desk-based documentation work and hands-on testing activities.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in laboratory areas, including:
- Safety toe shoes with EH rating
- Safety glasses
