Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all SOPs & safety policies & procedures
• Act as SME regarding EH&S company policies & practices – help develop & update P&Ps
• Address hazards and engage in appropriate corrective actions
• Support the maintenance of operating permits, licenses, registrations & reports as required by state & federal regulatory bodies – ensure 100% compliance
• Support the removal of hazardous waste – including the storage & disposal
• Perform daily checks and inspections
• Support & promote a culture of safety
• Support safety audits
• Respond to all alarms/emergencies – on-call responder for calls
• Stay up to date with all EH&S training
• Escort contractors and vendors while onsite
• Conduct routine safety inspections
• Support incident investigations – perform root cause analysis & prepare detailed reports
• Support the development & delivery of EH&S employee training programs
• Participate in emergency response planning & drills
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement EH&S initiatives
• Maintain records & documentation to ensure accuracy
• Evaluate EH&S metrics & prepare reports for management as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Degree in EH&S or similar field preferred
• 2+ years of industry EH&S experience
• Knowledge of federal, state & local laws & regulations
• Good understanding of EH&S best practices
• Experience with investigations & root cause analysis
• Strong verbal & written communication skills
• DoT HazMat Transportation Cert. preferred (49 CFR 172.704)
• Knowledge of cGMP preferred
