Full job description

Senior Applications Analyst (Epic Beaker)

Job Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time

Location: Rancho Mirage, CA (Hybrid: on-site multiple days a week working directly with lab staff)

We're partnering with a hospital system in Southern California's Coachella Valley to hire a Senior Epic Beaker Analyst for Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology. The role splits between core Epic Beaker analysis and build, and serving as administrator for the lab's diagnostic equipment, coordinating with vendors on new devices and building the Epic interfaces that connect them. Expect regular on-site, face-to-face support for lab staff from bench techs to the director, plus mentoring responsibility for less experienced analysts on the team.

What You'll Do

  • Provide production support, on-call and after-hours support, and new functionality development for Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology.
  • Own or manage medium to large projects, including serving as project manager on major information systems initiatives and following PMO tools and methodology.
  • Partner with vendors to bring on new lab diagnostic devices, then build the linking records in Epic so devices and Beaker communicate correctly.
  • Act as the administrator for lab diagnostic equipment, providing at-the-elbow, face-to-face support to lab staff, from technicians through the director, multiple times a week on-site.
  • Serve as a liaison between lab and clinical end users and IS technical teams (system administrators, DBA, networking, reporting, help desk), coordinating support and troubleshooting across groups.
  • Analyze current systems and workflows to identify opportunities to improve patient care, provider productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced analysts on the team, and help train others on PMO tools and methodology.
  • Coordinate with vendors on software upgrades and testing, and document acceptance of system changes.
  • Deliver regular written and verbal project status updates to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Epic Application/Analyst experience, with hands-on work in both Clinical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology within Epic Beaker.
  • Relevant degree, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Epic certification in the assigned application(s).
  • Comfortable owning a broad scope of responsibility beyond core Epic build, including hands-on lab device and vendor coordination.
  • Willingness to be on-site in a hybrid capacity multiple days a week for direct, face-to-face support of lab staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital or vendor setting.
  • Prior experience supporting lab diagnostic equipment or device interfaces alongside Epic Beaker.
  • Demonstrated project management experience on major initiatives.

What We're Looking For

This role calls for a true senior analyst: someone who can operate independently across a broad scope of Beaker work, mentor others, and step comfortably into a lab environment that's regularly bringing on new diagnostic devices and vendors. Strong communication and customer service instincts matter as much as technical depth, since this person will be face-to-face with lab staff, from technicians to the director, multiple times a week rather than working heads-down behind a screen.
