The Role: Lead Estimator
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
A well-established and highly respected Bay Area general contractor is looking to add an experienced Estimator to its growing Preconstruction team.
With a long-standing presence in the Bay Area and a strong reputation for quality, safety, collaboration and employee development, this is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to take ownership of a diverse range of projects and work closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors and internal project leadership.
The Opportunity
The Estimator will play a key role throughout the preconstruction process, taking projects from initial bid review through estimating, budgeting, value engineering and buyout.
You will work closely with Project Executives, Preconstruction Managers and Operations teams while developing strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate bid opportunities and project documents
- Prepare detailed estimates, budgets and proposals
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost analysis
- Develop trade scopes, bid packages and subcontractor bid lists
- Solicit, evaluate and level subcontractor bids
- Lead pre-bid meetings and coordinate with trade partners
- Participate in design development, client and project team meetings
- Present budgets and value engineering recommendations to owners and design teams
- Conduct jobsite visits and review existing conditions
- Support constructability reviews and project planning
- Develop preliminary project schedules and site logistics plans
- Work with Project Executives, Project Managers and Superintendents to transition projects efficiently from preconstruction into operations
- Support project buyout and subcontract execution
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders
- Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior project team members
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2–3+ years of estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating, contracts, scheduling and project planning
- Excellent ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and construction documents
- Strong understanding of construction costs, materials, manpower and subcontractor pricing
- Ability to identify and evaluate project risks
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across preconstruction and operations teams
Technology
Experience with some or all of the following is highly desirable:
Primavera P6, Destini, Building Connected, Procore , MS Office , CCTO Project Experience
