Facilities Manager – Premium Sports & Recreation
Location: New York, NY
Job Type: Full-time Salary | On-Site (24/7 Operations Oversight)
Compensation: Competitive Salary ($110,000 to $125,000 per year) + Performance Bonus + Benefits
We are seeking an experienced, operationally rigorous, Facilities Manager to lead facility operations at our high-volume, premier indoor sports and recreation venue in New York City. Positioned at the higher end of the market, our facility demands immaculate customer-facing presentation, flawless mechanical reliability, and consistent five-star guest experiences around the clock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shift Leadership & Delegation: Lead, schedule, and mentor a core team of 15–20 maintenance, custodial, and operations staff across shifts. Develop and manage a 168-hour weekly staffing and coverage plan to ensure seamless day-and-night operations, while delegating responsibilities across the team.
- Cost & Time Optimization: Drive labor and operational efficiency through data-backed scheduling, preventive maintenance prioritization, and disciplined vendor and utility cost management to protect margins without compromising luxury standards.
- Premium Quality Control: Enforce white-glove cleanliness, optimized playing spaces and surfaces, operational standards, and safety protocol, across all customer-facing zones and spaces.
- Comprehensive Maintenance Oversight: Manage preventive and reactive maintenance for building systems, including commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems (MEP), and specialized athletic equipment.
- Inclement Weather Strategy: Develop and execute dynamic weather contingency plans, rapidly scaling operations by onboarding and deploying temporary staffing during storms and seasonal disruptions to maintain safety and uninterrupted access.
Cost & Time Management Acumen
- Fiscal Stewardship: Track operating budgets, forecast staffing expenses, negotiate vendor contracts, and manage inventory to eliminate waste and maximize ROI.
- Operational Velocity: Excel at triaging competing mechanical, administrative, and guest-facing priorities, deploying resources swiftly to minimize facility downtime and optimize labor spend.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive facilities management experience in high-volume, premium commercial venues (sports complexes, luxury fitness, hospitality, or entertainment).
- Demonstrated mastery of time, task, and budget management, with a proven record of optimizing shift labor and operating expenses.
- Strong background in building infrastructure, MEP systems, OSHA safety standards, and local NYC building codes.
- Proven track record in shift-based workforce management, cross-shift communication, and surge-staffing during peak events or severe weather.
- Collaborative mindset with a sharp eye for aesthetic and functional detail.
