We are seeking an experienced, operationally rigorous, Facilities Manager to lead facility operations at our high-volume, premier indoor sports and recreation venue in New York City. Positioned at the higher end of the market, our facility demands immaculate customer-facing presentation, flawless mechanical reliability, and consistent five-star guest experiences around the clock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shift Leadership & Delegation: Lead, schedule, and mentor a core team of 15–20 maintenance, custodial, and operations staff across shifts. Develop and manage a 168-hour weekly staffing and coverage plan to ensure seamless day-and-night operations, while delegating responsibilities across the team.
  • Cost & Time Optimization: Drive labor and operational efficiency through data-backed scheduling, preventive maintenance prioritization, and disciplined vendor and utility cost management to protect margins without compromising luxury standards.
  • Premium Quality Control: Enforce white-glove cleanliness, optimized playing spaces and surfaces, operational standards, and safety protocol, across all customer-facing zones and spaces.
  • Comprehensive Maintenance Oversight: Manage preventive and reactive maintenance for building systems, including commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems (MEP), and specialized athletic equipment.
  • Inclement Weather Strategy: Develop and execute dynamic weather contingency plans, rapidly scaling operations by onboarding and deploying temporary staffing during storms and seasonal disruptions to maintain safety and uninterrupted access.

Cost & Time Management Acumen

  • Fiscal Stewardship: Track operating budgets, forecast staffing expenses, negotiate vendor contracts, and manage inventory to eliminate waste and maximize ROI.
  • Operational Velocity: Excel at triaging competing mechanical, administrative, and guest-facing priorities, deploying resources swiftly to minimize facility downtime and optimize labor spend.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive facilities management experience in high-volume, premium commercial venues (sports complexes, luxury fitness, hospitality, or entertainment).
  • Demonstrated mastery of time, task, and budget management, with a proven record of optimizing shift labor and operating expenses.
  • Strong background in building infrastructure, MEP systems, OSHA safety standards, and local NYC building codes.
  • Proven track record in shift-based workforce management, cross-shift communication, and surge-staffing during peak events or severe weather.
  • Collaborative mindset with a sharp eye for aesthetic and functional detail.
