Your primary mission

Install and commission Xeikon digital printing systems at customer sites throughout North America. When the installation schedule is lighter, you will support the local service team with maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical customer support.

About the role

Xeikon is looking for an Installation Engineer to join our North American Service team. Based in the Chicago/Elgin area, you will take ownership of new dry-toner press installations—from initial preparation through successful production start-up.

Following comprehensive technical training, you will represent Xeikon Headquarters at customer sites. You will work closely with customers, local service colleagues, and our technical experts to ensure that every system meets Xeikon’s standards for print quality, reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Installation work is your primary responsibility. During periods with fewer installations, you will support the local service organization with preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, and technical assistance.

Installation and commissioning — primary responsibility

• Plan and execute the installation and commissioning of Xeikon digital printing systems at customer sites across North America.
• Confirm site readiness and coordinate installation activities with customers, logistics partners, local service colleagues, and technical specialists.
• Assemble, connect, configure, calibrate, and test mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Diagnose and resolve issues during start-up, involving second-line technical experts when escalation is required.
• Optimize system performance and print quality.
• Complete acceptance testing and provide the customer with a clear technical handover.
• Document installation activities, technical findings, corrective actions, and customer feedback accurately and on time.

Local service support — secondary responsibility

• Support the local service team when no installation is scheduled.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to keep customer equipment reliable and productive.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues and drive them toward resolution.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers achieve the best possible performance from their Xeikon systems.

What you bring

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Preferably at least two years of experience in field service, equipment installation, equipment maintenance, or industrial printing.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
• The ability to learn complex technologies quickly, identify root causes, and translate findings into practical solutions.
• A self-directed, organized, and communicative working style, with the confidence to take ownership at customer sites.
• A safety-conscious, accountable, and flexible approach.
• The ability to collaborate effectively with local and international teams.
• The willingness and ability to travel up to 90% within the United States, with occasional international travel.
• A valid driver’s license and passport.
