Client Overview

Our client is a fast-paced manufacturing facility located in the heart of Somerset County. They are currently looking to add an HR Generalist to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$60k - $70k

Position Overview

The HR Generalist will support day-to-day HR operations for a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Somerset County. This role provides hands-on support in recruiting, employee relations, performance management, benefits and leave administration, HR compliance, and HR initiatives that support a high-performing and safety-focused culture.

Responsibilities Of The HR Generalist

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
    • Partner with Hiring Managers to fill hourly and salaried roles.
    • Post jobs, screen candidates, coordinate interviews and offers.
    • Manage background checks, pre-employment steps, orientation, plant tours, and HR documentation to ensure smooth onboarding.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement:
    • Act as primary HR contact for employees and supervisors.
    • Support consistent policy application, assist with investigations, and document findings.
    • Help drive engagement, retention, communication, and a respectful, inclusive, safety-first culture across all shifts.
  • Performance Management & Development:
    • Support performance reviews, goal setting, and development planning.
    • Coach supervisors on feedback, documentation, and corrective action.
    • Assist with disciplinary and performance improvement processes and coordinate training for hourly and salaried staff.
  • Benefits & Leave Administration:
    • Serve as benefits contact for employees.
    • Coordinate communications, open enrollment, and life-event changes.
    • Administer FMLA, NJ leave, and other leaves, including tracking and documentation.
    • Work with vendors and internal partners to resolve issues.
  • Compliance & HR Administration:
    • Maintain HR records.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and NJ-specific employment laws.
    • Assist with audits, reporting, metrics, job descriptions, org charts, and safety/compliance initiatives in partnership with EHS and plant leadership.
  • HR Programs & Continuous Improvement:
    • Support HR projects, change management, and implementation of HR best practices and systems aligned with plant and corporate goals, with a focus on continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Required Experience/Skills For The HR Generalist

  • 3+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and benefits/leave administration.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Experience/Skills For The HR Generalist

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels and across all shifts.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience with NJ state labor laws is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
