A Wiss client in Middlesex County, NJ is seeking a Payroll/HR Specialist to join their team. This is a hands-on role for someone who owns the payroll cycle end to end and who can also support HR, onboarding, and day-to-day accounting. This position is FULLY ONSITE. Local Candidates will only be considered


Responsibilities

Payroll processing

  • Review timesheets, chase missing time, and process corrections
  • Review OT, PTO, and sick time; enter commissions, bonuses, and additional pay in ADP
  • Complete and audit other departments' payroll prior to processing
  • Process deductions, benefits, 401(k), and garnishments
  • Balance, correct, and submit payroll

Union & prevailing wage

  • Verify jobs, rates, classifications, and fringe benefits
  • Process union and prevailing-wage requirements
  • Prepare and file certified payroll, WH-347, HUB, and NJEDA reporting
  • Prepare audit reports for union funds and other entities

Compliance & reporting

  • Manage multi-state tax jurisdiction setup and filings
  • Handle garnishments, child support orders, and court orders through resolution
  • Complete employment, income, unemployment, and disability reporting, including medical time and union dues
  • Resolve payroll issues and complete outstanding reports and management requests
  • Turn around reporting requests for safety, operations, and finance

Accounting & HR support

  • Reconcile payroll, deductions, funding, and the payroll GL
  • Reconcile company credit cards and support AP in Sage 300
  • Support general accounting: journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Onboard new employees — offer paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify, W-4 and state withholding, direct deposit, benefits enrollment, and ADP setup
  • Provide daily ADP and HR support to employees and managers


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, including multi-state
  • Hands-on ADP experience (Workforce Now or comparable)
  • Working knowledge of general accounting — debits and credits, reconciliations, GL coding
  • Experience with garnishments, child support, and court-ordered withholding
  • Union and prevailing-wage payroll, certified payroll, and WH-347 reporting a MUST
  • Sage 300 or comparable ERP


Compensation will be commensurate with experience
