Our law firm client is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Associate to join its sophisticated employment practice in Providence, RI.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to build a broad and well-rounded practice spanning employment litigation, counseling, investigations, workplace training, transactional support, and traditional labor matters.
The role offers significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to become a key member of a collaborative and growing team.
Role Overview
The associate will advise employers on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including:
- Wage and hour litigation
- Discrimination, retaliation, and harassment matters
- Non-compete and restrictive covenant disputes
- Employment and HR counseling
- Drafting employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and related documents
- Conducting workplace investigations
- Developing and delivering employment-related trainings
- Supporting M&A and other transactions through employment due diligence
- Advising on workforce-related risks and compliance matters
Additional experience involving traditional labor relations is a plus, including:
- Collective bargaining negotiations
- Union organizing campaigns
- Unfair labor practice matters
- NLRB proceedings and arbitrations
Experience with executive compensation matters is also a plus.
Candidate Profile
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing
- 4+ years of Labor & Employment experience
- Experience with employment litigation and counseling
- Strong drafting experience involving employment agreements and workplace policies
- Workplace investigation experience preferred
- Transactional and employment due diligence experience is a plus
- Traditional labor experience is highly valued
- Executive compensation experience is a plus
- Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills
- Strong academic credentials
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader team
