Sustainability LabVIEW Test Engineer – Special Test Equipment
📍 Brentwood, Long Island | Contract Opportunity
Build, sustain, and improve the technology behind critical test systems.
We’re looking for an experienced LabVIEW/TestStand Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Special Test Equipment (STE) across engineering and manufacturing environments.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a contractor who enjoys working at the intersection of test engineering, software, hardware, automation, and production. You’ll have the opportunity to work on sophisticated PXI- and PC-based test platforms, develop test software, troubleshoot equipment, and create solutions that directly support production and engineering programs.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain manual, semi-automated, and automated Special Test Equipment
- Develop Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and Manufacturing Test Procedures (MTP)
- Translate customer requirements into detailed product test specifications
- Perform engineering testing in support of multiple programs
- Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain test software using:
- NI LabVIEW
- NI CVI / LabWindows
- NI TestStand
- Python
- Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0
- Work with PXI embedded controllers and associated PXI hardware
- Design and modify engineering and production test fixtures
- Sustain and troubleshoot production Special Test Equipment
- Perform PC repair, maintenance, and legacy operating system support
- Work with SQL databases and Microsoft Access
- Execute testing using laboratory equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data loggers
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a technically versatile engineer who can move comfortably between hardware, software, test systems, and production support.
Required/Preferred Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 4–5+ years of experience developing and sustaining Special Test Equipment
- Strong experience with test hardware and software development
- Hands-on experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, and/or LabWindows/CVI
- Programming experience with Python and Visual Basic 6.0
- Familiarity with PXI-based test platforms
- Understanding of manufacturing and production environments
- Experience with technical documentation and writing
- Knowledge of legacy operating systems and PC troubleshooting
- Familiarity with SQL and MS Access
- Ability to read requirements, develop test specifications, and execute test procedures
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across functional teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
