Manager, Tax Forecasting & Investor Reporting
📍 Downtown Chicago | On Site 5 days
A large, privately held national energy and infrastructure company is seeking a Tax Forecasting & Investor Reporting Manager to own a high-visibility and technically complex function within its growing corporate tax organization.
This is a unique in-house opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys building and owning processes, working closely with FP&A and Finance, and serving as the primary tax resource for investor reporting and forward-looking tax analysis in a fast-moving, deal-intensive environment.
What You'll Do:
- Own and continuously improve the company's tax forecasting process — including taxable income calculations, cash tax projections, estimated payment schedules, and tax distribution and allocation calculations across legal entities
- Partner closely with FP&A and Finance to align the tax forecast with business plans, budgets, and long-range projections
- Analyze forecast-to-actual variances and communicate key drivers clearly to internal stakeholders
- Prepare and review investor tax reporting deliverables including K-1 equivalent packages, investor tax summaries, and supporting schedules
- Serve as a primary contact for tax-related questions from investors and internal business partners
- Support scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses related to business planning and contemplated transactions
- Monitor tax law changes and assess their impact in partnership with the tax planning team
- Own complex compliance calculations requiring quarterly updates including interest limitation analyses and transaction-level tax assessments
- Present quarterly tax results to senior leadership
- Build and maintain processes and workpapers to extract and organize financial data from internal systems to support tax return preparation
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's in Taxation or CPA a plus
- 7+ years of progressive tax experience
- Partnership taxation experience strongly preferred
- Experience with tax forecasting, financial modeling, or tax provision-adjacent processes
- Prior experience in energy, infrastructure, real estate, or private equity a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments with evolving tax rules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience presenting to senior leadership
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Oracle or OneStream a plus
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer visa sponsorship
Why This Role Stands Out:
✅ Own a high-visibility tax forecasting function at one of the largest privately held infrastructure companies in North America
✅ Direct investor tax reporting exposure across a complex, multi-entity partnership structure
✅ Heavy cross-functional partnership with FP&A, Finance, and Tax Planning
✅ Dynamic, deal-heavy environment with exposure to complex transactions and tax structures
✅ Hybrid flexibility in downtown Chicago with a collaborative, growing tax team
