Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – NPD
Job Location: Dublin, CA — Onsite
Job Duration: Long Term
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong technical depth in electromechanical product development, EMI/EMC, thermal engineering, and New Product Development (NPD). The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience preferred, with 10+ years as the minimum, and proven hands-on experience taking complex electromechanical products from concept through prototype, verification/validation, and production release.
The candidate must have substantive EMI/EMC design, testing, troubleshooting, compliance, failure analysis, or corrective-action experience. EMI/EMC exposure limited to resume keywords is not sufficient. Experience with IEC standards, thermal management, mechanical architecture, electromechanical integration, and full product lifecycle development is required.
Medical-device experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates from scientific instruments, semiconductor equipment, aerospace/defense, robotics, automotive electronics, imaging/optical equipment, power electronics, and other complex or regulated product-development environments are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Technical Lead for Mechanical Design within complex electromechanical product-development programs.
- Own mechanical architecture and interfaces for enclosures, mechanisms, mounts, thermal paths, cable routing, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design from concept, feasibility, and prototyping through design freeze and production release.
- Translate system, electrical, software, and product requirements into robust mechanical designs.
- Develop and review 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, GD&T, and BOMs.
- Integrate motors, sensors, PCBs, batteries, power supplies, connectors, and cabling within mechanical assemblies.
- Apply EMI/EMC design principles to electromechanical products.
- Support EMI/EMC testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective design actions.
- Work with applicable IEC standards.
- Own and support thermal architecture, thermal management, heat dissipation, and thermal analysis/testing.
- Lead and participate in FMEA, risk analysis, design reviews, and technical investigations.
- Support design changes through ECO/ECN processes.
- Define verification strategies and support EVT, DVT, V&V, and product qualification/testing.
- Investigate and resolve failures during testing, manufacturing, and field use.
- Lead DFM/DFA implementation.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams on tooling, materials, processes, and yield improvement.
- Support FAI, PPAP, pilot builds, and design transfer to manufacturing.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, engineering calculations, thermal analysis, and FEA.
- Collaborate with Electrical/Electronics, Software, Systems, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
- Lead technical/design reviews and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
