Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Development Assistant for a mission-driven faith-based organization dedicated to serving its community through cultural, spiritual, and philanthropic programs. This is a full-time, onsite, temp-to-hire opportunity based in San Francisco, CA.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to the development team, with a focus on gift processing, donor records, communications, scheduling, and event coordination. Approximately half of the role will be dedicated to supporting the planning and execution of the organization’s annual fundraising gala, including committee coordination, sponsorship outreach, auction support, meeting documentation, and event-day logistics. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with donors, leadership, and a collaborative development team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support gift operations, including payment processing, donor acknowledgments, reporting, and maintaining accurate donor records.
  • Maintain donor and development data, including contact reports, meeting notes, biographical updates, event records, returned mail, and other information in Raiser’s Edge or similar systems.
  • Coordinate the development department calendar, including internal and external meetings, donor visits, committee meetings, and related scheduling needs.
  • Serve as the primary administrative support for the annual fundraising gala, coordinating committee meetings, sponsorship outreach, auction activities, detailed meeting minutes, and event-day logistics.
  • Prepare donor and event briefings and support hospitality, receptions, donor meetings, board events, retreats, and other development-related activities.
  • Coordinate large mailings and provide general administrative and project support to the development team as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values, with a genuine interest in contributing to its fundraising and community goals.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, project management, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, donors, trustees, congregation members, and other key constituents.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, discretion, initiative, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, including occasional evening, weekend, and holiday commitments.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity paying $29/hour during the temporary period, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position. The role is onsite in San Francisco, CA, with a Monday through Friday schedule and flexibility required for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays related to special events.
