ABOUT CINETIC:
Cinetic Marketing is a boutique public relations firm specializing in film and television. Our projects include American Independent and studio/streaming releases, documentaries and international films. We are a small hard-working team made up of people with interests ranging from Italian Neorealism to The Real Housewives.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Cinetic is seeking a New York based Director of Publicity to spearhead their publicity campaigns. The ideal candidate will be proactive and detail-oriented with an emphasis on organizational skills as well as demonstrate strong management and communication skills. Responsibilities will include leading campaigns from festival premieres, theatrical or streaming releases through to awards season.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, energetic, resourceful, and will have a strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and exercise good judgement in high-stress situations. Creating dynamic strategies for campaigns while navigating obstacles as they arise are essential to the position. They must be able to work with various levels of talent, filmmakers, press, and executives in a professional manner. Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed for the creation of press releases, talking points, media training, pitches, press notes and overall talent and filmmaker communications. The candidate should have strong relationships with key journalists in the industry including film, TV and awards in the theatrical and streaming communities. Understands that PR is not a 9-5 job, and is willing to travel as needed.
Responsibilities
The position will need to be strategic and oversee publicity campaigns for theatrical film releases, streaming premieres, episodic programming, awards (TV and film), as well as festival campaigns. Collaboration with the rest of the team is essential across departments and titles. Manage and work closely with others on project positioning, maintaining press contacts and databases as well as awards timelines for all titles and continuing to maintain strong relationships throughout the industry – press, programmers, filmmakers, guilds, AMPAS, producers, sales agents and distributors. Strong communication is key to successful campaigns and the overall health of the company.
Additional Information
The Director of Publicity will report to the Vice President of Publicity, and also have a junior support across all campaigns.
