Purchasing Assistant

Location: Carson, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM

Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite, Direct Hire

Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 annually, DOE


About the Opportunity

A growing manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to support procurement, inventory planning, and supplier coordination activities. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating across departments to ensure materials and products are available when needed.

The Purchasing Assistant will play an important role in supporting purchasing operations, maintaining vendor relationships, tracking orders, and helping ensure production and customer requirements are met efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create, issue, and track purchase orders while maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicate with suppliers to monitor order status, delivery schedules, and material availability.
  • Coordinate expected delivery dates and provide updates regarding delays or potential supply chain issues.
  • Support internal teams by providing purchasing and inventory-related information.
  • Source materials, components, and samples as needed for operational and product development initiatives.
  • Assist with vendor research, supplier communication, and procurement documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment needs to support ongoing operations.
  • Review purchasing requirements and help ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data and documentation within company systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and customer requirements.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of recent experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have previous working experience supporting batch-process manufacturing onsite.
  • Must have experience purchasing raw materials used in blending, compounding, mixing, or products manufactured in-house.
  • Cosmetics, personal care, CPG, nutraceutical, or other FDA-regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Aerospace manufacturing experience is not considered a fit for this position.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving abilities verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
