About Q30 Sports Science
Since its formation, Q30 Sports Science has been focused on transforming the invention of two doctors into a safe, effective, and groundbreaking medical device to reduce the risk and severity of traumatic brain injury through partial jugular vein compression. Q30’s effort has included engaging leading engineers and fabricators to design and produce the Q-Collar, and working with world-renowned experts and independent researchers to perform more than 25 pre-clinical and clinical studies, 18 of which have resulted in published articles. On February 26, 2021, following a thorough evaluation of the research by the FDA, the Q-Collar became the first and only FDA-cleared device to reduce traumatic brain injury.
Position Overview
Q30 Sports Science is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to serve as a key legal advisor to the business, providing hands-on support across commercial contracting, corporate governance, corporate finance, employment and administrative matters, and litigation management. This is a high-impact, generalist in-house role suited to an attorney who is comfortable operating independently, managing a broad and varied portfolio, and partnering directly with executive leadership and the Board. The Corporate Counsel will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with Finance, HR, and business teams (sales, marketing and operations) across the organization.
- Location & Work Arrangement | Hybrid — Norwalk, CT. Regular in-office presence expected, with some flexibility for remote work.
- Reports To | Chief Executive Officer
- Experience | 6–10 years of relevant legal experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
- Compensation | $170,000 – $220,000 base salary plus annual bonus eligibility and standard benefits. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Agreements
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements supporting Q30's business operations and brand partnerships, including:
- Non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements (NDAs)
- Consulting agreements
- Marketing agreements
- Endorsement and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements
- Manufacturing, supply, and vendor agreements
2. Corporate Law Matters
Advise on core corporate legal matters, including:
- Corporate governance, including Board and Committee support
- Corporate secretary responsibilities (minutes, resolutions, entity maintenance, and record-keeping)
- Investor relations and stockholder/investor communications
- Debt and equity financing transactions, including data room preparation and transaction documentation
- Support of finance and tax matters in coordination with Finance and outside advisors
3. Administration
Provide legal support across internal administrative functions, including:
- HR and employment law matters, including management of PEO (Professional Employer Organization) relationships
- Risk management and insurance matters
- Facilities-related matters
4. Litigation Management
Manage outside counsel and oversee non-IP litigation matters as they arise (none currently pending).
5. Miscellaneous Legal Matters
Handle additional legal matters and special projects as assigned, exercising sound business judgment and practical risk assessment.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
- 6–10 years of relevant legal experience, ideally including in-house experience at a corporate, consumer products, or sports/entertainment organization
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a broad range of commercial contract types
- Working knowledge of corporate governance, investor relations, and debt/equity financing processes
- Familiarity with employment law fundamentals and experience managing PEO or HR-related legal matters a plus
- Sound judgment in managing outside counsel and litigation matters
- Ability to operate independently as a generalist, prioritize across a broad and fast-moving workload, and communicate clearly with executive leadership
- Experience with endorsement, NIL, or sports/entertainment agreements is a plus
- High degree of discretion, integrity, and business judgment
