Associated Health Professionals, Inc. (AHP), a Joint Commission Certified supplemental healthcare staffing agency, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with PACU experience for a full-time opportunity to support the VA Northern California Health Care System.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses seeking a full-time (Monday–Friday schedule) position at a VA healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in both PACU and Pre-Op; however, candidates with strong PACU-only experience are encouraged to apply.

Position Details:

  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU – Phase 1
  • Location: VA Northern California Health Care System – Martinez, CA
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • Tentative Shift: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Pay: $75/hr /$3,000/week
  • Benefits: Available and customized to your individual needs as part of your compensation package

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for Federal Employment (VA) positions.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current, consecutive PACU experience
  • Pre-Op experience preferred, but not required
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in accordance with safe patient handling guidelines.


Position Overview

The PACU RN will provide nursing care to patients during Phase I post-anesthesia recovery, with a focus on safe recovery immediately following anesthesia.

PACU Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate post-anesthesia recovery care
  • Care for higher-acuity postoperative patients
  • Closely monitor patients during emergence from anesthesia
  • Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
  • Manage pain, nausea, and other post-anesthesia symptoms
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as ordered.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other members of the perioperative team
  • Ensure patients meet appropriate criteria for discharge or transfer from Phase I recovery
  • Maintain compliance with VA policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures
  • Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to caring for Veteran patients
