Scientist III - Cell Biology & Functional Genomics

We’re hiring a Scientist III to support an in vitro research group focused on cardiovascular and renal disease. This is a highly technical, hands-on role supporting the automation of stem cell-based research workflows.

The primary focus will be NGS/sequencing and running established automated laboratory protocols. Stem cell experience is valuable, but candidates do not need to program robots or automation systems. Training will be provided on specific platforms as needed.

What you’ll do:

• Execute and monitor automated laboratory protocols supporting cell-based research
• Support the development and automation of stem cell-based workflows
• Perform NGS workflows including tissue, cell, and nuclei dissociation, library preparation, QC, quantification, and sequencing
• Support mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays
• Perform molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting
• Troubleshoot routine issues with automated protocols and laboratory workflows
• Maintain accurate sample tracking, experimental records, metadata, and electronic laboratory notebook documentation
• Analyze results and communicate findings and recommended follow-up
• Collaborate with cell biology, genomics, automation, and bioinformatics teams

What we’re looking for:

• Strong hands-on NGS experience, including sequencing workflows and library preparation
• Experience running established automated laboratory protocols or automated workflows
• Strong mammalian cell culture and cell biology experience
• Ability to independently troubleshoot routine technical issues
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to execute complex, multi-step protocols accurately
• Ability to learn and operate new laboratory automation and sequencing platforms

Preferred experience:

• Stem cell or iPSC culture and differentiation
• iPSC-derived cell assays or kidney organoid workflows
• Experience operating laboratory automation platforms
• Sequencer operation and sequencing run setup
• Experience with high-throughput laboratory workflows

Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
• Stronger experience level preferred
• PhD candidates will not be considered
• Relevant experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, or a related scientific discipline

This is a 2-year project opportunity with a 2-round interview process.
