Senior Accountant

A leading food manufacturer based in Totowa, NJ is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to their accounting team due to the continued growth and expansion of the company via acquisitions. This Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting their accounting operations and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger entries, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Conduct variance analysis and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing financial insights to management.
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Assist with developing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support the external audit process and work with outside auditors as needed.
• Partner with various departments to research and resolve accounting and financial issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a corporate environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
• Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Food Manufacturing experience is highly preferred, but any manufacturing experience is very helpful.
