Senior Complex Claims Specialist – Professional Liability & Specialty Severity

About the Role:

We're seeking an experienced Senior Complex Claims Specialist to manage high-severity Professional Liability claims while serving as a technical leader and trusted resource across the claims organization. This role is ideal for someone with strong Architects & Engineers (A&E) and/or Professional Liability claims experience who is interested in expanding their expertise across additional specialty lines over time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle complex, high-exposure Professional Liability claims from initial investigation through resolution, with an initial focus on Architects & Engineers (A&E) claims.
• Analyze coverage, direct litigation strategy, negotiate settlements, and collaborate with defense counsel, mediators, and internal stakeholders to drive favorable outcomes.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical guidance, mentorship, and consultation to fellow claims professionals.
• Develop and deliver training, participate in claim roundtables, and contribute to department-wide initiatives that enhance technical excellence and claims best practices.
• Support the continued growth of a collaborative severity team by handling increasingly diverse Professional Liability claims, including Allied Healthcare, Medical Professional Liability, Media, and other specialty lines.

Qualifications:

• 6 - 7+ years of Professional Liability and/or Specialty claims handling experience, with strong exposure to complex, high-severity litigation.
• Experience handling Architects & Engineers (A&E) claims strongly preferred.
• Strong coverage analysis, litigation management, negotiation, and mediation experience.
• Ability to mentor others, influence technical discussions, and thrive in a collaborative, evolving environment.
• J.D. preferred but not required; equivalent legal or claims experience will be considered.

Salary Range:

• $140,000 - $170,000 +bonus
