Senior Construction Project Manager

Position Overview

Joseph Nicholas Construction, part of the Nicholas Family of Companies, is a full-service construction firm specializing in high-quality building and renovation projects. The company is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to lead projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, client communication, and overall project execution to ensure successful delivery.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in fast-moving environments, communicates effectively with clients and project teams, and can confidently manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, safety, and project momentum. Experience managing commercial construction projects is required; automotive dealership construction experience is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and building codes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules while proactively identifying risks, delays, and recovery strategies.
  • Lead Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and maintain clear communication between clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure strong project performance.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, including buyout, procurement, change orders, invoicing, and submittals.
  • Coordinate with field teams to monitor project progress, quality control, and safety compliance through regular site visits.
  • Identify and resolve project issues related to scope, schedule, budget, and constructability.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, punch lists, and closeout documents.
  • Provide regular project updates and reporting to leadership and clients.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and safety-focused project environment.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
    • 5+ years of experience managing commercial construction projects.
    • Experience with automotive dealership construction is a plus, but not required.
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, and project lifecycle management.
    • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and client relationships across multiple active projects.
    • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, RedTeam, or MS Project.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage changing priorities and maintain project momentum in a deadline-driven environment.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, architects, engineers, and field personnel.
