Full job description

The Company

A fast-growing consumer marketplace platform with tens of millions of downloads, hundreds of thousands of new listings a day. Built on one idea: selling should be as easy as buying.

The Role

A senior, hands-on data engineering role on the team that owns the platform's core data infrastructure. You'll design, build, and run production pipelines on modern GCP tooling, not just write code for someone else to operate while mentoring the engineers around you and raising the bar on how the team builds data systems.

What You'll Work On

  • Production-grade data pipelines on GCP (Dataform, BigQuery, Airflow) — built for scale, tuned for cost
  • Data quality testing and reliability across the pipeline, end to end
  • Complex data models built in partnership with cross-functional data teams
  • Reusable data components and shared libraries other engineers build on
  • Mentorship and code review — genuinely raising the level of engineers around you
  • Technical documentation and architecture decisions that shape how the platform's data gets built

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years in data engineering, still writing production code today
  • Not removed into pure architecture or management
  • Real, applied experience with GCP data services - BigQuery, Dataform, Dataflow, Pub/Sub (or the equivalent on AWS/Azure)
  • CI/CD for data pipelines you've built and maintained, not just used
  • Data modeling and ETL processes owned from design through production
  • Comfortable optimizing for performance *and* cost, not just correctness
  • Python, SQL, or TypeScript
  • A strong grasp of how data actually drives business decisions - not just how to move it

Bonus Points

  • BI dashboard development (Looker, Power BI, Tableau)
  • ML / data science exposure
  • AI automation experience
  • Data & AI governance experience

Why Join

  • Ownership of infrastructure that's genuinely load-bearing for the business
  • A team that mentors and gets mentored - not a silo
  • A modern data stack, real scale, real constraints
  • Career growth that moves as fast as the team does

Location: Bay Area - 2 days/week in-office

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 + bonus

Benefits: Comprehensive health coverage, flexible time off, strong parental support, wellness benefits, and a total rewards package built to go beyond the paycheck.
