The Project
As part of a delivery partner joint venture, we've been selected as the client's partner of choice to support a major transit authority across a large-scale rail infrastructure program.
This is one of the busiest rail connections in the region, and the program will improve the capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving a high volume of daily passengers. Backed by substantial public funding, it stands as one of the largest investments in a mass transit project in modern history.
You'll Be Responsible For
- Providing project scoping, design, and construction phase supervision for a large transit program in New York City.
- Applying your knowledge of project controls, including cost and schedule management methods specific to the transit industry.
- Collaborating with the lead estimator and cost estimating team to develop accurate estimates for components of the transit program, including civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, track, utilities, maintenance and storage facilities, signal and communications systems, bus depot facilities, and wayside power facilities.
- Leading a team preparing estimates and cost planning for a portfolio and/or projects.
- Driving measurement exercises, including preparation of schedules of quantities.
- Developing strategic review of prospects and fact-finding on key related elements.
- Managing benchmarking exercises to test the estimate.
- Overseeing quality assurance of estimates to ensure they're fit for purpose.
- Presenting the estimate to key stakeholders, demonstrating full understanding of the project.
You'll Need to Have
- 10 years of experience in construction estimating on complex infrastructure or tunnel projects.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in cost estimating methodologies and techniques.
- Knowledge of New York City construction trade union rates and rules.
- Experience preparing detailed cost estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), civil, structural, or architectural construction projects.
- Strong ability to produce high-quality materials within tight timeframes and manage multiple assignments.
