Overview

A premier law firm is seeking a relationship-driven talent professional to lead attorney development across its Litigation Department. Partnering with Practice Group leaders on retention and performance, this person will serve as a trusted resource for associates and counsel navigating their careers within the firm.

Why this role

This is a seat at the center of a top litigation practice, with real influence over how attorneys grow, stay, and thrive. If you're energized by building programs, coaching talent, and shaping culture — and you want your work to directly strengthen a high-performing department — this is a rare chance to do it at a firm that genuinely invests in its people.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with attorneys and practice leaders to advance talent development, strengthen retention, and shape a strong department culture
  • Serve as the connection point between attorney leadership and finance, translating reporting and benchmarking data into insights that support growth and productivity
  • Work alongside practice and talent leadership to shape, launch, and carry out new policies and initiatives
  • Build and guide mentorship programs that support attorneys at every career stage
  • Contribute to annual evaluation cycles for partners, counsel, and associates, and help address performance concerns as they arise
  • Guide lateral attorneys through onboarding so they integrate smoothly into their new teams
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze attrition trends to inform retention efforts
  • Plan and coordinate practice group meetings and events
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with firm administrative teams, including finance, recruiting, professional development, and DEI

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a large law firm environment, with direct experience in professional development, talent development, or practice management
  • A natural communicator who moves fluidly between conversations with senior partners and junior associates
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with sharp instincts for prioritization under competing deadlines
  • Comfortable working with data and financial reporting to tell a story and drive decisions
  • Most importantly, someone who understands how great law firms work and is genuinely invested in helping attorneys do their best work
  • J.D. preferred but not required
