Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Precision Solenoid Valve Products

Westbrook, CT | Onsite


I'm recruiting a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a highly respected Connecticut manufacturer whose miniature solenoid valve products are used in demanding aerospace and space applications.


This is a growing part of the business, and the challenge is straightforward: customer demand is increasing, and manufacturing needs the engineering horsepower to keep up.


They're looking for an experienced manufacturing engineer who can still get close to the equipment and processes, but who is also ready to provide technical leadership to a team of less-experienced engineers.


This is not a formal supervisory position today, but there is a potential path toward becoming a Lead Manufacturing Engineer.


What You'll Work On


You'll help improve and expand the manufacturing processes used to produce highly engineered, precision solenoid valve products.


Projects can include:


  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Leading process implementation and continuous improvement projects
  • Supporting new product introductions and production scale-up
  • Designing or implementing tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automation
  • Troubleshooting difficult manufacturing and equipment problems
  • Using data and time studies to identify opportunities for improved throughput
  • Improving quality, repeatability, ergonomics, and process reliability
  • Supporting automation projects alongside internal automation engineers
  • Mentoring and providing technical direction to earlier-career manufacturing engineers
  • Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other technical groups


You'll have your own engineering projects while also helping other engineers work through theirs.


What They're Looking For


The right person will likely bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Approximately 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience leading manufacturing projects from problem definition through implementation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to work directly with equipment, tooling, and production processes
  • Experience with process development, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to mentor and technically lead other engineers without relying on formal authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Experience with precision components, small-part manufacturing, electromechanical products, automation, tooling/fixture design, machining, or aerospace manufacturing would all be valuable.


You don't need to check every one of those boxes.
