Senior Tax Associate Job Description

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Tax Associate to join our growing public accounting firm. Position Overview

The Senior Tax Associate will play a key role in the preparation, preview, and review of tax returns for small and midsize businesses as well as high-net-worth individuals. This individual will work closely with managers and partners, serve as a trusted resource to clients, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preview and review a variety of tax returns for business and individual clients
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for small and medium-sized businesses, including pass-through entities and corporations
  • Review complex individual returns for high-net-worth clients
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and help clients minimize tax exposure
  • Research tax issues and clearly communicate recommendations to leadership and clients
  • Collaborate with staff, managers, and partners to ensure timely and accurate filings
  • Mentor and support junior team members throughout the tax engagement process
  • Build strong client relationships through responsive service and trusted advice
  • Assist with tax projections, estimated payments, and year-round planning strategies
  • Contribute to process improvement and help drive efficiency across engagements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
  • Public accounting tax experience
  • Strong experience reviewing returns for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals
  • Solid understanding of federal and state tax compliance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines during busy seasons while maintaining attention to detail
  • Client-focused mindset with the confidence to interact professionally with business owners and executives
