Staff Accountant | Brooklyn, NY | Onsite | Salary: $80,000-$85,000 | Temp-to-Perm
About the role
A well-established Brooklyn nonprofit is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role supporting general ledger reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close within a stable, mission-driven organization with direct visibility to senior finance leadership.
What you'll actually do
- Perform general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Manage AP and AR processes including invoice processing, payment runs, and collections support
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate financial records within the organization's accounting systems
- Collaborate with finance team members on ad hoc reporting and reconciliation projects as needed
What we're looking for
- Solid experience with general ledger and bank reconciliations
- Strong understanding of AP/AR processes
- Proficiency in Yardi and/or NetSuite required
- Home care industry experience a plus
- Public accounting or accounting firm background a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Must be able to work fully onsite in Brooklyn, NY
Environment A large, mission-driven nonprofit with deep roots in north Brooklyn, operating across housing, health, home care, and social services. The finance team carries significant responsibility given the organization's scale and funding complexity. This role has direct access to the CFO and offers a clear path to a permanent position for the right candidate.
