The Role

People In AI is hiring a Staff AI Engineer to help build the foundational AI platform behind a growing suite of intelligent products.

You’ll work across AI infrastructure and product engineering, taking systems from prototype to reliable production deployment. This is a high-autonomy IC role with significant influence over architecture, platform direction, and engineering standards.

What You’ll Do

• Build and scale AI platform capabilities across evals, observability, ingestion, and orchestration
• Design and improve RAG pipelines, embeddings workflows, retrieval systems, and prompt architectures
• Build tooling for testing, monitoring, versioning, and debugging LLM-powered systems
• Own AI systems from experimentation through production
• Partner with product, design, engineering, and domain experts to automate complex workflows
• Shape technical standards and architecture across the broader AI engineering organization

What You’ll Bring

• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals
• Experience shipping production AI systems using LLMs, RAG, agents, evals, NLP, or AI/ML infrastructure
• Strong understanding of reliability, scalability, testing, and observability
• Experience owning ambiguous, technically complex problems
• A pragmatic builder mindset focused on durable production systems rather than demos
