We are seeking a highly skilled Switchgear Electrical Engineer to lead the design, engineering, and execution of low and medium voltage switchgear systems supporting commercial, industrial, and utility applications. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex electrical challenges, collaborating across teams, and driving projects from concept through manufacturing and customer delivery.

As a key technical leader, you will evaluate customer requirements, develop compliant engineering solutions, create and review electrical designs, and serve as the subject matter expert for switchgear systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring technical excellence, product quality, code compliance, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

Engineering & Design

  • Design, develop, and review low and medium voltage switchgear systems, switchboards, panelboards, and control panels.
  • Analyze customer drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements to develop compliant engineering solutions.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Select electrical components and equipment that meet application requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform design reviews and engineering evaluations to verify system performance, reliability, and compliance.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, contractors, consultants, distributors, and internal teams.
  • Provide engineering guidance to Manufacturing, Drafting, Quality, Purchasing, and Production departments.
  • Lead technical reviews, drawing reviews, inspections, witness testing, and project support activities.
  • Exercise professional engineering judgment to resolve technical issues and deliver effective solutions.

Project Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage engineering deliverables, design changes, and technical documentation throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support warranty investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and product performance evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product designs, engineering processes, manufacturability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on evolving technologies, codes, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, switchgear, industrial controls, or related electrical systems.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience creating, reviewing, and approving electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with low and medium voltage electrical systems and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering design principles and industry standards.
  • Ability to independently evaluate technical requirements and develop compliant engineering solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing low and medium voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, or control panels.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
  • Experience with control system design and electrical system integration.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
