Salary - 150-200k (depending on experience & expertise)

Our partner firm in Long Island, NY is looking to hire an experienced Tax Director or Tax Manager to support and expand their growing tax practice.


This high‑impact opportunity is ideal for a professional who is passionate about delivering

exceptional client service and maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence. In this

role, you will help shape tax strategies, strengthen quality and compliance, elevate client

experience and develop a high‑performing team within Elevate’s national platform. You will

work alongside firm leadership and Elevate’s resources to drive sustainable growth and build a

best‑in‑class practice.


Key Responsibilities

Client Service & Technical Excellence

  • Deliver exceptional tax advisory and compliance services to entrepreneurial businesses, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals
  • Oversee preparation of individual, partnership, trust and corporate tax filings
  • Review complex returns
  • Serve as a trusted advisor offering guidance on complex tax issues, entity structuring, and planning opportunities
  • Respond to client inquiries across income tax, franchise tax, sales/use tax, labor, benefits, and related compliance areas


Leadership & Practice Management

  • Contribute to the management and growth of the tax practice, support oversight of the tax department’s financial performance, and collaborate with multi-office teams to provide effective leadership across locations
  • Support practice expansion by deepening services with existing clients and developing new relationships throughout the Long Island market
  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing tax team, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented culture


Operational & Strategic Responsibilities

  • Conduct tax and accounting research to ensure accurate and compliant reporting
  • Develop engagement budgets and pricing, assign staff workloads, and prepare internal reports
  • Partner with leadership across Elevate’s platform to unify processes, standardize quality, and leverage shared services, including data analytics, AI tools, and operational innovation


Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required
  • 7-10 years of progressive business taxation experience, ideally with a Big 4, large national or leading regional firm
  • Proven success leading client engagement and driving practice growth
  • Strong technical expertise across corporate, partnership, trusts, and individual taxation
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain meaningful client relationships
  • Established leadership experience with the ability to develop, mentor, and manage teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-focused environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
